Cluster Mileage · From Your Dump · No Dealer Tool

Porsche cluster mileage, corrected from the cluster's own memory.

Send an EEPROM dump of the instrument cluster and tell us the figure you need. We decode the stored mileage, set it and return a flashable file — matched across every copy so the cluster takes it first time, with no tamper flag. 981, 991, 982 and 718, plus Macan 2014–2018.

Why the mileage isn't a number you can just type in

On a modern Porsche cluster the mileage isn't stored as a single figure. It's held enciphered, written across several copies in the EEPROM, wrapped in checksums and carried in a small rolling journal that the cluster uses to spot tampering. Change one byte and the copies no longer agree — the cluster rejects it, and you get an error message instead of a reading.

That's why a donor swap or a guessed edit so often ends in a bricked-looking dash. We read the encryption, set the figure you need, then rewrite every copy, every checksum and the journal so the whole chip is consistent — and hand it back as a file you write straight in. Nothing else in the cluster is touched.

Two cluster families. One flat price.

A straight dump-in, file-out job at a flat £65 per cluster. Read the EEPROM yourself or have your usual auto-electrician pull the cluster — we only ever need the file, and we confirm the job before you pay.

The encrypted 981, 991, 982 and 718 instrument clusters. We decode the mileage from your EEPROM dump, set it to the figure you need and return a flashable file — matched across every stored copy so the cluster accepts it when you write it back. No donor chip, no soldering a second cluster.

Macan Cluster · 2014–2018

The 95640 cluster EEPROM. We decode the enciphered mileage, correct it to your figure and hand back a ready-to-write dump — matched byte-for-byte so it goes back first time. Ideal after a cluster swap or repair that has left the mileage wrong.

£65
Send the dump first and we'll confirm the job before you pay. The cluster identifies itself inside the dump, so checking takes us minutes and costs you nothing. If for any reason we can't return a mileage file the cluster will take, there's no charge.

Which clusters do we correct?

Identify yours from the model and year — or just send the dump and we'll read the cluster family from the file. Something not listed? Ask; the range keeps growing.

Mileage correction

Dump in. Flashable file out.

No car needed, no appointment, nothing posted to us. The whole job happens on a file you send by email.

Step 01

Read the cluster & send us the file

Pull the cluster and read its EEPROM — a 95640 on the Macan, the on-board cluster memory on the 981/991/982/718. Any cluster tool or clip will do it. Email us the .bin and tell us the mileage the car actually shows and the figure you need.

✓ We check it for free before you pay

Step 02

We decode & correct

We identify the cluster from the dump, decrypt the stored mileage and set it to your figure — then rewrite every copy, every checksum and the rolling journal so the whole chip agrees. A mismatch is exactly what trips the tamper flag, so we leave nothing out of step.

✓ Consistent, not a single-byte hack

Step 03

You get a flashable file

We send back a ready-to-write .bin. Flash it straight to the cluster with the same tool you read it with; it powers up on the corrected figure with no red dash and no tamper dot. Nothing else in the cluster is changed.

✓ Typically same working day

The chip, read directly. We clip onto the cluster's own EEPROM and read it on the bench — the correction is done on that file, not with a plug-in mileage box.

Where the mileage lives. This is the memory that holds it — enciphered, spread across several copies and checksummed. Getting all of that to agree is the whole job.

FAQ

Will the cluster show a tamper dot or red dash?

Not when it's done properly. The tamper flag is triggered precisely when the stored copies, checksums and journal disagree — which is what a guessed single-byte edit leaves behind. We rewrite all of them together so the whole chip is consistent, which is the difference between a correction that sticks and a dash full of warnings.

Do you need the car, or the VIN?

Neither — the job is done on the dump. Send the .bin, the mileage the car currently shows and the figure you need. The VIN is useful for us to confirm the cluster family and sanity-check the read, but it isn't required.

How do I read the cluster?

Pull the cluster and read its EEPROM with any cluster tool or SOIC clip — a 95640 on the Macan, the on-board memory on the 981/991/982/718. If that's not your area, any auto-electrician or diagnostic engineer can pull it and read it; we only ever need the file.

Is mileage correction legal?

Correcting mileage after a cluster replacement or repair — so the dash reads the car's true mileage again — is a legitimate use, and it's the one we offer for. In the UK the law requires a vehicle's genuine mileage and any adjustment to be disclosed when it's sold; keeping records and disclosing on sale is the owner's responsibility, not something the correction removes.

What if my model isn't listed?

Ask. We cover the 981, 991, 982 and 718 clusters and the 2014–2018 Macan today, and the range grows as we work through each generation. Send the dump and we'll tell you straight away whether we can read it — at no charge if we can't.

Can you do trade volume?

Yes — we work with independent Porsche specialists, auto-locksmiths and diagnostic engineers. If you're sending clusters regularly, get in touch about trade pricing and same-day turnaround.

Send the dump. We'll set the rest.

Email the .bin, the mileage the car shows now and the figure you need. We'll confirm the read and come back with a flashable file — £65 per cluster, and nothing at all if we can't produce a file the cluster will take.
